This fascinating article from the Australian Defence Department reports on Operation Kudu – Australia’s contribution to the UK-led multinational mission training recruits from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian female and male recruits – teachers, builders, retail assistants – are highly motivated and determined to learn all they can so they can ‘defend their children, house, friends and family’ and ‘help their country to win’.
In turn, Australian commanders are humbled by the Ukrainian recruits’ lived experience of war and acknowledge the Ukrainians have taught them a few things, especially about trench assaults.
Thank you Australia for helping Ukrainian defenders to survive and defend their country. Together with the international community, your assistance will help Ukraine to bring russia’s illegal and brutal war to a fair and just end.
