The death of 33 year old Ukrainian poet Maksym Kryvtsov on the Ukrainian frontline last month is yet another reminder of the senseless destruction and devastation russia is wreaking on the Ukrainian people.
It follows the killing of writer Victoria Amelina from a cruise missile attack on a pizza shop in Kramatorsk last year; the probable torture and murder of writer, Volodymyr Vakulenko, during the occupation of Izium; and the death of actor Vasyl Kukharskyi from injuries on the frontline.
The heroism of these cultural figures was recognised by President Zelenskyy with the granting of posthumous awards on 23 January 2024.

We salute the bravery and heroism of Maksym, Victoria, Volodymyr and Vasyl.
We will never forget their sacrifice.
