The AFUO warmly welcomes the strong support from US President Joe Biden for Ukraine yesterday in his historic speech from the Oval Office seeking $100 billion to stop terrorism and tyrants like Putin.
President Biden urged the importance of supporting global peace and security, saying ‘we are facing an inflection point in history.’
‘Hamas and Putin represent different threats. But they share this in common. They both want to completely annihilate a neighbouring democracy.’
President Biden hailed the bravery of Ukrainians in defending their country, and reminded the American people that ‘all Ukraine is asking for is help for the weapons, the capability to push invading Russian forces off their lands…We are building the arsenal of democracy and serving the cause of freedom.’
Thank you President Biden for reaffirming this is not the time to ‘walk away from Ukraine’. History will judge you well – the struggle for democracy, freedom and a rules-based order is a decisive one which the world must face and win. Otherwise the chaos and violence will continue, and peace and victory will not be secured.
