“It takes a village to raise a child” – a well known proverb that means an entire community of people must provide for and interact positively with children, for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
Ukraine Crisis Appeal donations have helped to fund over $2.5 million of critical life-saving medical and humanitarian aid supplies – thanks to donations from our ‘village’. As well approx. 29 million of donated medical supplies from across Austalia.
For the past 18 months, AFUO’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal has been fortunate to partner with Rotary Donations in Kind West Footscray (DIK) and have sent two 40ft containers, filled with medical and humanitarian supplies – the third container is due to leave Australia and arrive at the Rotary warehouse in Lviv in time for the Ukrainian winter. Rotary DIK has become an integral part of our village.
Rotary Club Ukraine Unity and Klub Rotary Gdynia have provided invaluable logistical support to receive, unpack our containers and load them onto trucks to Lviv. Amazing villagers!
Many brave Ukrainians volunteers continue to distribute the medical supplies to regions and medical facilities across Ukraine, including:
60 portable ultrasound devices and mobile phones
2 C-Arm x ray units
4 Ultrasound units
50 metal detectors
40 ventilators
40 wheelchairs
25,000 compression bandages
102,962 tourniquets
500 winter jackets
450 orthopaedic kits and related supplies
172 defibrillators
2,000 medical backpacks
30 airline pallets of fire & rescue kits including thermal imaging cameras, rescue equipment, and uniforms
…just to name a few!
