Major Berezovskyi and Pavlo Tsapiuk tour Australia with powerful message about how to help Ukraine

August 16, 2024 by CYOA Administrator

Major Berezovskyi and Pavlo Tsapiuk (“Military Post” aka Військова пошта) have completed their hugely successful tour of Australia with a powerful message about how Australia can continue to bring Ukraine closer to victory.

Hosted by the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO), in collaboration with AFUO state hromada organisations, the visitors:

  • Met with 7 Australian-Ukrainian communities in 7 cities, engaging in frank discussion about the war and the frontline
  • Highlighted the importance of drones and transport vehicles; the technological challenges of the war; the need for appropriate training; and the vital role played by the Ukrainian diaspora in providing additional equipment and resources for Ukrainian frontline defenders
  • Met with the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Defence, Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, ANU Centre of European Studies and Senator David Fawcett’s office in Canberra, in meetings facilitated by the AFUO
  • Met with Members of the Victorian State Parliament, in meetings facilitated by the AFUO and AUV
  • Met with the British Consul-General in Perth, and the highly influential and respected supporter of Ukraine, Major General Mick Ryan (Retd.)
  • Conducted an interview organised by the AFUO with Australian Associated Press (see AFUO Newsroom: short link pls http://afuo.org.au/media/in-the-news/)

Whilst our heroes were here, the AFUO’s Defend Ukraine Appeal launched its biggest fundraiser to date “Community drones – 7 night drones across 7 Australian cities”. There was a huge response, with results to be announced shortly!

AFUO co-chair Kateryna Argyrou and (in most cities) AFUO Treasurer Jarema Polatajko joined the panel to update the community about the AFUO’s MP letter writing campaign and the AFUO’s tax deductible Future Ukraine fund.

The AFUO extends a deep thank you to Maj. Berezovskyi and Pavlo Tsapiuk for visiting our Ukrainian-Australian community and sharing their knowledge and insights with us. Ukraine is truly fortunate to have such brave defenders and supporters!

The AFUO also sincerely thanks Ukrainian Association Western Australia, Association of Ukrainians in SA, Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc., Association of Ukrainians in Tasmania, Friends of Ukraine Canberra/Queanbeyan, Ukrainian Council of NSW – ОУГ НПВ, Association of Ukrainians in Victoria, Ukrainians in Geelong – Українці в Джілонґу, and everyone in our community who helped to coordinate and promote the panel events around the country and raise such a significant amount to help Ukraine!
