Turn off. Donate. Support Life.
The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) has called on Australians to step into the shoes of millions of Ukrainians suffering without power by turning off their energy for an hour and providing life-saving help by donating to a generator fund for Ukraine.
“Russia’s war of genocide has entered yet another cruel chapter. Overnight hundreds of Russian missiles have again destroyed Ukrainian infrastructure, electrical power systems and central heating plants,” said Mr Stefan Romaniw, AFUO Co-Chair.
“Many parts of Ukraine are without power and water. With a bitter, long, freezing winter approaching, Ukraine desperately needs generators to keep up the fight against Russia and support basic needs in Ukrainian cities,“ he said.
“It is hard to imagine what this must be like for Ukrainian men, women and children. To even begin to experience what is happening in Ukraine, I urge people to turn off their power for an hour.
“The AFUO has sourced generators, ready for delivery. By donating to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal Keep Ukraine Warm campaign, we can purchase these generators and deliver them directly to the cities, towns and villages of greatest need.
“We call upon the Australian Government to donate to this fund too.
“We can keep families warm, ensure batteries are charged, help mothers feed their children, and protect the elderly,” said Mr Romaniw.
