The AFUO was delighted to be at the National Press Club of Australia in Canberra today to see our co-chair Kateryna Argyrou and Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko reflect on the last two years of Ukraine’s existential fight.
Marking two years since russia’s full-scale invasion commenced, Kateryna and the Ambassador offered strong and complementary visions for Ukraine’s success and the many opportunities for Australia to double down on support for Ukraine.
Both speakers thanked the Australian Government for support to date, with Kateryna making a direct appeal for more support for Ukraine to Senator Richard Marles, Defence Minister, who was in the audience.
On a busy day in Parliament, the AFUO also welcomed the attendance of Senator Simon Birmingham (Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister), Andrew Hastie MP (Shadow Defence Minister), Senator Catryna Bilyk (Chair, Australia-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group AUPFG), Senator Linda Reynolds (co-chair AUPFG), Senator David Fawcett (Senator for South Australia), and Senator Dave Sharma (Senator for NSW).
You can watch the address, along with Q&A from journalists, on ABC iView now: https://iview.abc.net.au/video/NC2411C005S00.
