In early March 2024, former Federal MP Michael Danby visited Ukraine in a visit coordinated by the AFUO, led by co-chair Stefan Romaniw.
Mr Danby met with military and government committees to strategise joint efforts for Ukraine’s victory. Thank you to Serhiy Kasyanchuk, UWC Mission to Ukraine Director, and Julian Knysh, Australian-Ukrainian journalist and filmmaker, for assisting on the ground with these meetings.
In Irpin, Mr Danby made a well-received visit to AFUO’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal/Rotary Club shelter to express Australia’s commitment to supporting and helping rebuild Ukraine.
Mr Danby also met with local media, including KyivPost and Sky News. Speaking with Sky News, Mr Danby stressed democratic countries’ interest in Ukraine’s victory. He emphasised that sending military aid to Ukraine is the cheapest, most pragmatic and ethical way to defend our own democratic way of life from authoritarian regimes.
The AFUO thanks Mr Danby for his long-standing support of Ukraine. Even though no longer an MP, Mr Danby continues to do what he can to encourage greater Australian diplomatic and military aid for Ukraine.
Mr Danby’s visit also demonstrates the importance of collaboration and initiative, in which everyone can play a part. In partnership with our community members and supporters, the AFUO has facilitated various campaigns that you can join today to help Ukraine.
Every action counts on the road to our eventual victory!
