The AFUO welcomes Dr Rudi Myhovych, neurologist and president of the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine (CMAU), to Australia!
Rudi will be holding meetings with the community, the AFUO Medical Aid Committee, government, medical companies, hospitals and the media to discuss how Australia can help Ukraine address its ongoing, critical medical needs.
Ambulances, tactical and combat medicine, trauma medicine and rehabilitation, doctor training and supplies are all crucial for the treatment and survival of civilians and military personnel, brutally injured by russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.
A focus of Rudi’s visit will be discussions with medical company PolyNovo about the provision of their world-leading burns treatment product (developed in response to the 2002 terrorist bombings in Bali).
Ukraine’s medical system faces intense pressures. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has unleashed over 1500 attacks on health facilities, one in five ambulances have been destroyed and supply chains have been severely disrupted. The challenges of providing routine, emergency and rehabilitation healthcare services while the country continues to sustain heavy bombardment are momentous.
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion almost two years ago, Dr Myhovych has pivoted his organisation’s focus towards providing medical aid and logistics across Ukraine, including in the most perilous frontline and recently liberated areas. The CMAU also provides mobile clinics and training for Ukrainian doctors.
