Ukraine marked Defenders Day on Saturday 1 October with a national holiday and – as a sign of respect and gratitude to the brave defenders of Ukraine – a minute of silence around the country.
We too as a community deeply honour the sacrifices made by all our Ukrainian defence forces and warriors.
In his address to the Ukrainian people, President Zelenskyy urged Ukrainians to think about the momentous minute before and after the full-scale invasion: “Who were we before February 24? Who are we now? Who should we become?”
We will continue to answer the President’s questions via our steadfast support of Ukrainian defenders. The AFUO’s Defend Ukraine Appeal has provided life-saving vehicles, drones and communication devices to soldiers on the front line.
But our fight is not yet over! Please reach out to your local Member of Parliament to advocate for more military aid for Ukraine via the AFUO’s Campaign for Ukraine. Please also consider donating to the AFUO’s Defend Ukraine Appeal.
Together we can support our brave servicemen and women and drive the russian occupying forces out of Ukraine!
