Childhood, that precious time of life filled with laughter and safety, has been cruelly ripped away from Ukraine’s children. The innocence of youth has been replaced by fear, loss, and haunting memories that will last a lifetime.
The Ukraine Crisis Appeal has produced a moving and painful video which features Ukrainian children – explaining in their own words – how Russia’s war has impacted them. Filmed under psychological supervision at the AFUO’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal shelters in Ukraine, the children describe facing gunfire, fleeing their homes, and witnessing death and destruction.
Ms Darka Senko, Chair, AFUO Humanitarian Aid Initiatives Committee said today “What childhood memories has Russia created for these children? The war will come to an end one day, but the memory of war remains with you for the rest of your life.”
“This is why we know our work is critical. We help these children and their families find safe haven and give them hope for the future.
“Donations to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal will fund safe homes and specialised trauma assistance to those most in need. Together, we can rebuild lives and bring a touch of childhood back to these young hearts,” she added.
