17 year old Ellie Cole, the granddaughter of Newcastle-based Australian-Ukrainians Mary and Chris McDonald, will be competing in the 10 metre platform diving final tonight at 11:00pm AEST!
Ellie lives in Sydney, but regularly attends the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Adamstown, where her grandparents helped build the church.
Mary McDonald is in Paris with her granddaughter and told the AFUO today “We are so thrilled for Ellie. She has put in so much hard work to be here, and to make the final at the Olympics is just outstanding. I know that our church community in Newcastle would be so proud of her.”
