The AFUO and the Australian-Ukrainian community warmly welcome the announcement that Australia will join the ‘Drone Coalition’ led by the United Kingdom and Latvia.
The Drone Coalition was established in February 2024. It has the goal of providing up to a million ‘first person view’ drones to Ukraine, which will be produced at scale and at more affordable prices by leveraging the industrial strength of signatory countries.
Drones have become a key capability in Ukraine’s counter-offensive, offering situational awareness and accurate targeting intelligence. Contributions from Australian companies like Sypaq, Droneshield and Defendtex are helping Ukraine to defend territory and protect soldiers and civilians alike.
We also acknowledge the Minister Richard Marles’ indication that the Australian Government will provide further support to Ukraine over the coming ‘weeks and months’.
Our community is incredibly grateful for all that Australia has provided to date, as it is only with support from our partners around the world that Ukraine can prevail against the Russian aggressors.
