The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) welcomes the appointment of His Excellency Mr Paul Lehmann as Australia’s next Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova.
“In meeting with the Ambassador, it is obvious he is keen to continue the work of supporting Ukraine,” said Stefan Romaniw OAM and Kateryna Argyrou, AFUO Co-Chairs.
The AFUO has had good, solid working relationships with all previous Ambassadors and looks forward to working with Mr Lehmann.
The AFUO has offered to assist the Ambassador in settling into his new role by supporting the work of the Embassy and making introductions in Ukraine as appropriate.
Again, the AFUO strongly urges the Government to consider returning the Australian Embassy to Kyiv. It is difficult to represent the best interests of Australia whilst outside of Ukraine.
The AFUO also extends its thanks to Mr Bruce Edwards for all his work and cooperation. He has strongly supported Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
