As part of continuous efforts to improve its programs to help Ukraine, the AFUO is proud to launch the re-branded U-Help fundraising platform for non-lethal military aid to Ukraine – Defend Ukraine Appeal.
The AFUO Co-Chairs Stefan Romaniw OAM and Kateryna Argyrou said today “Defend Ukraine Appeal, with its new brand, website and social media, will help us be more strongly identifiable and effective in raising money to provide non-lethal aid to Ukrainian defenders.”
Like U-Help before it, Defend Ukraine Appeal will continue to:
- raise funds for the provision of non-lethal military aid to the brave defenders of Ukraine, such as protective gear, vehicles and life-saving equipment
- be managed by the AFUO, with the assistance of the AFUO Defence sub-committee
- allocate funds for a variety of non-lethal military aid programs
Mr Romaniw and Ms Argyrou said “We are proud that in the last 18 months, U-Help raised over $780,000 for aid such as surveillance equipment, off-road vehicles and thermal imaging devices for Ukrainian defenders on the front-line.
“Defend Ukraine Appeal will pursue programs initiated under U-Help, such as the community grants program which enabled local Ukrainian-Australian community members to apply for non-lethal military aid for family members and friends who are at the frontline of defence in Ukraine.
“Defend Ukraine Appeal will also manage new programs such as #Utes4Ukraine,” they added.
The #Utes4Ukraine campaign will fundraise for the provision of thousands of vehicles (utes and trucks) to assist in the Ukrainian counter-offensive, in response to an official request from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyy.
