What Ukraine’s protest is about
The organizers of the continuing mass protest movement “EuroMaidan” in Ukraine have issued a statement regarding the reasons for the actions. The English-language text of the statement can be read here: Lystivka_ENG
Note: The term “EuroMaidan” is derived from two parts
- · Euro – referring to the pro-European direction that Ukrainians wish to take
- · Maidan – the Ukrainian word for a city square, the centre of the movement being in one of Kyiv’s largest square – Independence Square or Maidan Nezalezhnosti
