The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) will proudly present an afternoon of eastern European song and dance on Sunday 17 July to raise funds for war-torn, ravaged Ukraine.
The Gala Charity Concert for Ukraine, to be held on Sunday 17 July at 2:30pm, at the Palais Theatre, St Kilda, will feature performances from Ukrainian, Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian cultural groups.
Mr Taras Galas, AFUO Cultural Director, said “We are honoured the Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities are joining us in this initiative to help Ukraine, which will feature folk dance, music, song and choral performances from talented local groups.”
“Together, through arts and culture, we can remember and respect Ukraine and its people, and provide much needed support.”
“Sunday July 17 also marks the anniversary of the downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine when 298 people, including 38 Australians, were killed by Russian forces in 2014. This crime should never be forgotten,” he added.
All funds raised from the concert will be donated to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
The Ukraine Crisis Appeal is the largest Australian tax-deductible humanitarian fundraising effort for Ukraine, raising over $6.4 million to date to provide much needed food, water, shelter, hygiene kits, and medical aid to help the innocent men, women and children of Ukraine.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
