One of the top priorities for the Ukrainian Government is to secure more aid for the volunteer-based Territorial Defence Forces, who have been critical in supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assisting with emergency measures, such as protecting public infrastructure and checkpoints, maintaining security, and assisting with combat operations.
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), representing over 20 million Ukrainians in the diaspora, has responded to this call in its ‘Unite with Ukraine’ campaign, which encourages individuals to support the procurement and delivery of an evolving range of needs for these defenders, including:
- medical supplies, such as individual first aid kits
- fuel
- night-vision goggles
- protective equipment, such as helmets and vests
- vital communication systems
‘Men and women have courageously stepped forward to join the territorial defense units in their cities. They have volunteered to protect their families and their homeland. They need our support so they can continue their magnificent resistance to a tyrant who has tried to enslave Ukraine and destroy it,’ said Mr Stefan Romaniw, OAM, Co-Chair Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) and First Vice-President of the UWC.
‘By donating to the ‘Unite with Ukraine’ fund, you can help the defenders of Ukraine and show the Ukrainian people they are not alone. You can also show you reject Putin and his senseless violence, and support a peaceful and prosperous future for the world,’ said Mr Romaniw.
