The Association of Ukrainians in Tasmania and the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations have been greatly saddened to learn about the death of Tasmanian man, Mr Michael O’Neill, who has been killed whilst helping to transport injured and wounded, including civilians, from the front line of the war against Russian forces in Ukraine.
The Tasmanian and Australian Ukrainian community extends its deepest sympathies to the children and family of Mr Michael O’Neill. We are deeply sorry for their loss, and offer our condolences and prayers at this difficult and tragic time.
Our community also pays respect to the bravery and courage of Mr O’Neill, who was helping to provide humanitarian aid services in Ukraine, and save the lives of women and children. We salute him as a hero and honour his selflessness and respect for human life.
May he rest in peace. In Ukrainian, we wish him Вічная пам’ять (Eternal Memory).
