The local Australian-Ukrainian community will be hitting the streets over the next few days to support the call by the Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky to show their suport for Ukraine, one month after Russia’s brutal invasion of their homeland.
‘Come from your offices, your homes, your schools and universities. Come in the name of peace. Come with Ukrainian symbols to support Ukraine, to support freedom, to support life,’ the President said.
‘We want to join President Zelensky in telling Putin that he will not be able to defeat the Ukrainian people. We want the world to join us in rallying for freedom and peace, for a world which respects life and the right to choose one’s own destiny. We urge Australians to come and join us at the below rallies and stand with Ukraine. Stand for a world which won’t allow aggression, violence and callous disregard for human life to replace the values of freedom and human dignity, ’ said Mr Stefan Romaniw OAM, Co Chair, Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO).
