Yesterday, the AFUO sent our Ukraine Policy Survey to Federal candidates and parties.
Among the questions we’re asking:
Will you stop the sale of russian petroleum products from fuelling Putin’s war?
Will you seize frozen russian assets to fund Ukraine’s recovery?
Will you support banning the pro-war ‘Z’ symbol here in Australia?
Will you support sending surplus ADF equipment to Ukraine — and back peacekeepers if needed?
Will you support a dedicated federal budget line for Ukraine aid?
Will you support calls for the return of abducted Ukrainian children?
Will you actively counter russian disinformation and support a whole-of-government Ukraine strategy?
Will you back displaced Ukrainians and support faster skills recognition?
The survey was initiated after discussions with Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress – Свiтовий Конґрес Українців, during his visit to Australia, and after further liaison with the UCC National – Ukrainian Canadian Congress, peak body representing the Ukrainian Canadian community. We thank them for their collaboration.
The results will be presented before the 3 May federal election as a Ukraine Policy Scorecard showing where candidates and parties stand on Ukraine. The Scorecard will be a key component of the AFUO’s National Policy Guide, which notes our community’s key advocacy priorities for the next term of Parliament.
Stay tuned!
