“Russians at War” – russian-propaganda film is set to play at the Antenna Documentary Film Festival in Sydney, Australia on the 10th and 14th of February, under the guise of being an “anti-war documentary”.

Former russian state-run channel RT producer Anastasia Trofimova gained illegal access to occupied Ukraine, filmed russian soldiers–many allegedly stationed in Bakhmut–that she refers to as ‘absolutely ordinary guys’ and ‘heroes’, with no reports of war crimes to document.
While claiming the film was made without russian state consent, she was able to travel into occupied Ukrainian territories and then into russia, where the film was reviewed and partially edited. Despite severe repressive laws for anti-war speech in russia, the Kremlin is yet to comment or take any action…
This propaganda piece whitewashes war crimes, pushing a dangerous “both sides” narrative between the invader and the invaded, misleading Australian audiences about russia’s ongoing genocide in Ukraine.
Aussie Oscar Jenkins is still being held captive as a POW in russian captivity, and video evidence of his cruel and humiliating treatment was posted online by russian soldiers. After serious concerns for his life, it took russian officials a whole month to confirm he was alive, without producing any video evidence. It is absolutely unacceptable for Australia to host a propaganda film, disguised as a documentary, and to provide a platform to push this out to the Australian public.
