The highly esteemed former military leader and strategist, Mick Ryan, AM, will be launching his new book “The War for Ukraine: Strategy and Adaptation Under Fire” at an in-person and live stream event next Thursday at the Lowy Institute in Sydney at 12:30pm!
In his new book, Mick argues that the soundness of military strategy and the nimbleness with which strategy can adapt to unforeseen circumstances are the two most important factors in deciding victory or defeat. Mick believes this is the clearest lesson to emerge from Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Mick has been a vocal advocate for Ukraine, and has provided insightful and expert military commentary for both Australian and international audiences on Russia’s war.
His recent submission to the Australian Government’s “Australian Support for Ukraine” inquiry made a strong case for a more effective and efficient whole of government approach to assisting Ukraine, to “ensure that all Australians can be proud of the support their nation is providing to the people of Ukraine.”
