On May 9, while the Kremlin celebrates its twisted narrative of WWII, we mark #RussianShameDay — a global call to expose truth, resist propaganda, and honour real victims of war and oppression.
On May 8, Ukrainians around the world join many nations in honouring the memory of all the brave men and women who gave their lives to defeat Nazism’s brutal dictatorship in Europe.
russia has weaponised history to justify its brutal, genocidal war against Ukraine. The myth of “russia defeating Nazism alone” is just that — a myth. Victory in WWII was a collective effort, with Ukrainians making immense sacrifices and suffering immeasurable loss. Yet today, russia distorts that memory to excuse its crimes — from the horrors of Bucha to the stolen children and destroyed cities, like Mariupol and Bakhmut.
The pumped-up russian parades are not about remembrance — they are a Kremlin-orchestrated campaign to whitewash Soviet crimes and glorify russian militarism. It’s time to say enough.
Led by the Ukrainian World Congress, we join Ukrainians and people of conscience around the world in calling on democratic nations to condemn russia’s historical revisionism and declare May 9 as #RussianShameDay — a day to stand for truth, justice, and Ukraine’s liberation.
